The TPT is an exciting route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders that links the North and Irish seas, passing through the Pennines, alongside rivers and canals and through some of the most historic towns and cities in the north of England. It passes 1 mile from Silverwood and is suitable for cycling and walking.

The National Coal Mining Museum for England provides a great day out with a unique opportunity to travel 140 metres underground down one of Britain's oldest working mines. Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Children are free to run around, making the most of 500 acres of historic parkland. At YSP you can touch the sculptures. Favourites include Playground, a musical sculpture that children step across, and Crawling by Sophie Ryder, a half woman, half hare made from domestic items and plastic toys. Walk in the newly restored lakes and woodland where they'll discover bridges, follies and incredible historical features including a Greek-style summer house and a magical Shell Grotto. Website

Peak Pursuits, Underbank Outdoor Activity Centre
Take the 'Leap of Faith'. Situated on the banks of Underbank reservoir the site is surrounded by woodland and backs onto the moorland of the northern Peak District. Ideal for offsite activities including climbing, scrambling, walking, DofE Expeditions and mountain biking.
